spring break.

Looking for a Spring break filled with local events and yummy snacks and crafts? Perhaps one of these Bay Area spots will suit your fancy — in alphabetical order:

Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA)

Go on a walk on the Cal campus and then head over to BAMPFA. On our last visit we checked out the Art Lab for drop in creating – they had a box of stamps and ink out, plus markers and paper – as well as the current exhibits.

Check their calendar for free days; there are also a number of discounts for Cal alum and students.

Coffee and Crafts at Ocean View Brew Works

At the top of my favorite weekend pastimes might be coffee at a brewery with friends. Ocean View Brew Works is another community space that has yummy drinks and snacks, all the fun events for adults and families (like Easter egg lacing activities), and good people running the show. See their website and peep their Instagram for the most up to date calendar. If you visit before the end of March you may even spot some of my macramé on their art wall.

Earth Day Celebrations with the Nurtured Seedling

The Nurtured Seedling plans regular events in their community garden, often with themed gardening activities and snacks! See their website for their upcoming events, including their Earth Day celebration on April 19. Sign up for their newsletter, too, for big announcements before everyone else.

Eggster @ Cal

If you’re looking for a science fair egg hunt combo, Cal’s Eggster could be for you. They host craft stations (like making turtles out of chenille stems), sensory science stations (like digging for “fossils” and learning about dental hygiene) and Easter egg hunts! Grab free tickets early; they do max out each year. This year’s Eggster is on April 4.

Farm Tour with Heirloom East Bay

We joined for a farm tour and visited with the animals at Heirloom East Bay. Book your own farm tour and say hello to the chickens, the goats, and an alpaca! They also sell eggs and goat milk soap.

Music at the Emeryville Public Market

The Emeryville Public Market continuously makes improvements to the space, and they host regular musical events, plus crafts and pop-up markets. Check their events calendar for all the upcoming fun.

Parks and Crafts

It is likely you’ll stumble upon a sunny Spring day in the Bay. Why not grab some tasty snacks and do some outdoor crafting. Here are some projects you can take on the go — beaded bows, key charms, and macramé bookmarks.

Themed Days @ the Library

I love that libraries host all kinds of events, like Unicorn Day! Check your local library event calendars for more unique celebrations. For Unicorn Day the library set up uni-corn hole, unicorn mask making, a bubble dance party, button making, pin the tail on the unicorn, and a cotton candy station. Ah, I love a good theme!
