I am on a bag charm kick! We made bag charms as thank you gifts for a recent school fundraiser, and then bag charms for my kid’s Super Mario birthday celebration. We had a few supplies leftover from the birthday craft so we thought it would be fun to make more as New Year’s teacher gifts!

I know what you’re thinking: “New Year’s teacher gifts? Is that a thing now?” Yes, it is a thing when you didn’t make holiday gifts in time before the winter break. 🤭 These would be cute for Valentine’s Day, teacher appreciation, birthdays, any holiday or just because gifts, too. Here’s the how-to!

Materials:
- 1/8” ribbon or cord. If using a ribbon, I recommend one with a velvety finish. It’s a little bit thicker than a satin ribbon and will create bigger knots.
- Jump ring – 10mm works well
- Key ring
- Pony beads
- Letter beads
- Measuring tape or ruler
- Pliers x2
- Scissors
- Gift box, optional
How to:
- Cut 18 inches (or more) of ribbon.
- Fold ribbon in half; add to jump ring with “luggage tag” knot or overhand knot.
- Add beads of choice to two ribbon tails.
- End with overhand knot on each tail (you might need two overhand knots on top of each other to make a big enough knot for the beads to stay put).
- Trim ribbon tails as needed.
- Place on keyring of choice.
- Hang on bag, backpack, keys, etc.

I had the little choose words and color schemes for each of his teachers. I assisted with assembly. They turned out so fun and whimsical, and my kid was so excited to hand deliver these gifts to his teachers!
