brews and bookmarks.

For my macrame art gallery launch I hosted a free make and take station at the brewery. It was a beautifully sunny day – so perfect for crafting al fresco! Sharing my bookmark craft here so you can make your own.

This craft recipe makes one 7-inch bookmark. You will need:

  • 1-2″ wooden ring
  • Two 48-inch strands of 2mm cotton cord
  • Scissors
  • Painter’s tape
  • Pet brush (or comb)

How to:

  • Attach cord to ring using a Lark’s head knot. See the refresher for Lark’s Head Knots below. Repeat for the second strand. You’ll now have 4 strands.
  • Adjust the inner strands to 10 inches. These will be your anchor cords.
  • Tape the ring onto your workstation. You could also tape the anchor cords down if helpful; tape them towards the end of the strands.
  • Create square knots until you have ~1-2 inch of anchor cord left, likely 20-22 square knots. See the refresher for Square Knots below.
  • Trim as needed.
  • Brush tail for fluffier fringe.

Try it with two colors! Or different sized cord!
