My kid and my friend’s kid have the same birthday, and that friend just so happens to own Sticky Art Lab, so of course we had to throw a joint celebration at the best place to throw a sparkly, sticky, and colorful birthday! We set up activity stations, had loads of pizza and treats, and led a slime station. It was chaos and it was lovely. Here’s a lil throwback Thursday post to a disco slime extravaganza!

Disco Party Accessories
In the front lab we had a decorate-your-own party accessory station. We set out eyeglass frames, headband blanks, and rainbow and sparkle chenille stems. This is a low prep and easy clean/set up activity, and it entertained both kids and grown ups.

Decorate a Slime Container and Beyond
In the main lab we set out a creation station for decorating slime containers, and also for open creating. We offered origami paper, markers, scissors, washi tape, and glue sticks for an anything-goes craft station.

Slime of course!
The slime station led by my friend + Lab Crew was crazy good! Kids got to choose and help make clear and opaque slime. Everyone got to add their own mix-ins: colors, sparkles, etc.

Messy Play in the Backyard
In the backyard, we repurposed the moon sand from the maneki-neko party, and added some colorful and sparkly pom poms to match our colorful disco theme. We also set up a bubbly fun bar where you could create your own bubble wand with chenille stems, or string and twine.
Disco Decor
For decor, we set up a metallic fringe backdrop for photos, created an upcycled cardboard garland (we love a good reuse craft!), hung up mini disco balls, and swapped out some of the light bulbs with disco lights! Oh, plus I found these great disco ball earrings that I will forever don at all evening events.

Snacks
For snacks, we set out some salty, some sweet, and some crunchy snacks; we got pizza from Gioia, and all the cake from Costco. The celebrants each had their own cake, so of course everyone had a chance to have two slices.

We were delighted to share this birthday with our friends and families! And I thought it was extra special that both sets of friends celebrated each birthday kid. This was also my kid’s first time inviting his school friends to a party, so all around it was a sweet, sweet moment.
