Another Florida post! Last time I shared all things Magic Kingdom. For our second park, we decided on Animal Kingdom because we figured it’s essentially a zoo and would be more leisure after a full day at Magic Kingdom. Also, Hubby wanted to experience the World of Avatar.

The Plans
Same deal – I marked attractions as will regret not seeing, would be ok skipping, or go see if, e.g., the line is short. And yes, this was on sheet two of aforementioned Excel workbook.

On my wish list for Animal Kingdom were the shows! The Lion King and Finding Nemo stage shows were visually and auditorily stunning. I wanted to see both again immediately.

For rides, Hubby wanted to ride Avatar Flight of Passage, but since it was for bigger/taller kids, he went solo while I took the kiddo on the Na’vi River Journey and explored Pandora. It really felt like we were transported to a whole world!

Throughout the park you could earn Wilderness Explorers badges (a la Up) by completing missions while also learning about wildlife, conservation, and wilderness skills. It was fun to spot the stations and collect the sticker badges in our Wilderness Explorers book.

We went on a safari ride through the wildlife reserve, a river raft ride (we got drenched!), and the kiddo rode his first really bumpy rollercoaster in the dark – even I was legit scared I was going to fall out.

We met a lot of favorite characters at Magic Kingdom, so characters weren’t our top priority for Animal Kingdom, but we stopped whenever we saw them, and those moments were the cutest!

The Snacks
The food at Animal Kingdom was next level fun and fancy. We planned for a full sit down lunch at the Satu’li Canteen in Pandora. Just look! From top to bottom: Ocean Moon Bowl (Blue Noodles, Tuna, Watermelon Radish, Pickled Daikon, Rainbow Carrots, Avocado, Cucumbers, and Red Cabbage with Miso and Sweet Soy Drizzle topped with Micro Cilantro), Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl (with Chili-Spice topped with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Grains), and Cheeseburger Steamed Pods – Bao Buns (with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Vegetable Chips).

We stayed hydrated and sugared up with floats and sweet bevvies, plus a Mickey-shaped cookie for the little.

The Outfits
For Animal Kingdom The Lion King was our inspo for our Disney Bound. My kid wanted to be Scar, so he wore Scar-ish colors, and his long mane/hair down; plus green sunnies.

I went as Just Can’t Wait to Be King Simba. I made hair clips to look like the feathers in the movie scene, and wore Simba yellow. Hubby went as Pride Rock, and in true Hubby fashion, we told him to wear his normal clothes in greyish browns, and then I accessorized him with a lion necklace. Overall theme: Hubby is not into dressing in clothes outside his normal attire so we had to be clever with his outfits.

Share your Magic Kingdom musts below! And make your own feathered hair clips!

Materials:
- Felt in assorted reds and gold
- Alligator hair clip
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun + glue refills
How to:
- For each clip, cut 5-6 football-like shapes out of red and gold felt ~3 inches in length. Cut notches on either side to make each look more feather-like.
- The part of the clip that you pinch to open will be the ‘top’ of the clip. Add a line of hot glue to the hair clip, and start by placing a feather at the top of the clip. Add more glue, and another feather slightly lower and angled left/right, then another again slight lower and angled right/left. Repeat with the remaining feathers until you no longer see the clip.
- Make as many clips as you please!
- Allow to cool completely before using.
