Ringing in the Lunar New Year with a Chinese calligraphy class at the El Cerrito Library and Jojo Liu! Jojo shared a brief calligraphy history, described our materials, and then demonstrated basic Chinese calligraphy techniques.

For the year of the horse, Jojo prepared worksheets for us to learn the horse character in different calligraphy styles.

We spent a majority of the class practicing, and then created our final Lunar New Year’s greeting on fancy red paper.

I’m not sure if my calligraphy is legible, but this was a lovely meditative practice, and I’m glad I was able to join in this class! Happy Lunar New Year season to all who celebrate!
