Happy Macra-May! Today I’m sharing a piece that I worked on last year but only recently was able to photograph (thank you, Sticky Art Lab, for the backyard borrow!).

This was a free-form piece and I found myself making knots and taking them apart a number of times. I’m learning how to create symmetry in my macrame pieces and realizing more that my right hand is less coordinated than my left. I knew this to be true already, but it was even more apparent as I worked through the double half hitch knots (the parts that look like ‘lines’) on this piece. The final result reminded me of a mermaid tail so I’ve named this piece Sirena. Let me know what you see in the comments!

Sirena, 2024. Cotton rope, wood.
