It’s my birthmonth so I’m sharing an idea for your next birthday celebration: host a birthday white elephant gift exchange where you provide all the gifts. It’s a party idea that is sure to surprise and amuse all your guests, and everyone leaves with a surprise party favor.
There was a season in my life when I subscribed to a quarterly lifestyle box filled with goodies. They always had fun things, but I also didn’t need every item in each box so I started stashing them away… and somehow collected enough for a dozen or so white elephant exchange gifts. I wrapped them up and piled them high for this special exchange!
Most gifts were practical (a bento box, a set of candles), but I also included one gag gift, a box of goodies from my last hotel experience (pen, shampoo, notepad,…). I’m a big fan of rehoming items and this is a really fun way to do it!
To make it extra cute, I folded origami hearts (the only origami I know by heart) for the number draw and had each friend pick their fate. Overall, fun was had and gifts were snagged. We also snacked on piles of assorted pizzas and treats (each friend ended up bringing a box of treats to share – how sweet!).
