first year pennants.

Getting ready for Baby’s First Year! Over the years I’ve created baby pennants for friends. And once we found out a little of our own was on the way, I knew I wanted to make a set for myself! I usually make the pennants smaller (like this or this) and place them on dowels. This time I went a little bit bigger. I used thick felt in size 12″ x 18″ and cut out 6″ x 18″ pennants. I cut strips of white felt 1″ wide to create the side ribbons and the strip on the left side. I used Eastwood font from Da Font as inspiration. I went with black and white because babies can see the contrast, but also because we wanted to use our panda as a measure next to Bebe. Matchy, matchy! Excited to use these each month, and, while not in use, they should make cute bebe nook decor. Do you have littles? How did you commemorate their monthly milestones? Share below!

pennant party!

I hosted another interwebs event for my crafty biz: live pennant cutting! Sometimes for in-person events, if there is electricity and space available at my booth, I’ll create pennants on demand. I had never done one live on the interwebs before. There’s a first for everything during shelter in place! I took preorders and took suggestions from the audience, too. I showed some samples, prepared a few blank pennants, and had a box of scraps and my scissors ready to go. First up was a duo of 2020 pennants for a high school and college grad. And a plant lady pennant for, well, a fellow plant lady! I created a shop tiny pennant for the SF Etsy first ever virtual show (I co-hosted! You can watch the recording online.) and some pandemic-inspired pennants: good vibes, let’s stay in, and it’s ok. I also cut out a love and a yay pennant, two of my best sellers. But the request of all requests were these yay pennants complete with 3D toilet paper roll. Super fun! And …

special projects.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about special projects. So, here we go! Flower crown. First up, a custom flower crown in peaches and pinks. My panda makes a good model. Golden Gate bridges. Shweet Shtuf asked me to cut felt Golden Gate bridges for Karl the Fog plushies. So many bridges! These are available for purchase and are made to order. Pennants. I got a pennant request for a bouquet of graduation pennants – one design for the middle school graduation year and the other for their future high school graduation year. Super fun! Plus a custom pennant request for a Georgetown College alum. Go tigers! And my friend who works for the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Branch at the California Department of Public Health requested this custom #syphilisishard pennant for her coworker. I was given artist’s choice for colors so I made it super colorful. Paper signage. Here’s a paper sign I whipped up for an office baby shower. I practiced my calligraphy cutting. Wall hangings. Here’s another colorful project – a …

fun with flags.

I love working with Feed the Fish co customers on custom celebration decor. Here’s a peek at some pennants I’ve been recently asked to make. A couple of weekends ago I vended at Stockmarket in Stockton, a handmade & vintage show. There were all sorts of wonderfully curated items. I of course had to make some pennants to represent the area and show some city love. My Stockton pennants got a lot of ‘awww’ and ‘that’s awesome’. One show-goer ordered a custom GIANT pennant. Ok, technically these pennants are regular sized, but compared to my usual sized pennants on a stick, these are gigante. She’s going to hang this up in a school office. What a nice way to sport city and school pride. This trio of pennants was for a lovely young lady named Paloma who recently turned 13 and had a bowling party! This was a super fun way to decorate the night. Talk about Kodak moment; these make the perfect accessory for a colorful photoshoot with your bestest friends. Shops dig my pennants, too. Gather in …
