What better way to celebrate another pandemic wedding anniversary than with Matilda’s Bloombox! Ever since I spotted Matilda’s seafoam truck at a local craft event adorned with the prettiest blooms, I’ve wanted an excuse to treat myself to a box (I mean, ya, this one is also for you, too, Hubby). What a delight! Each box comes with a beautifully designed information sheet with details on each grower and each flower/herb, plus owner Emily’s suggestions for how to prepare and arrange the blooms in your vase of choice. I love that each flower/foliage is sourced from local growers, the box is hand delivered, and it’s also a fun DIY activity. Matilda’s Bloombox is not a subscription, but rather you select in advance which weeks you’d like to receive a box and you are charged upon delivery. They give a preview a week or two in advance to give you time to say yea or nay, and when it’s delivered, there’s no address label on the box – it’s like a friend left you a surprise …

Thanksgiving is around the corner! Here’s a quick way to add some homemade to your Thanksgiving table. I’ve been wanting to create a felt succulent pumpkin, but I hadn’t found the right pumpkin until now! It’s the perfect size, shape, and material. I was so disappointed in the foam/plastic variations I’ve seen over the years, and I didn’t want to use a real pumpkin for this particular craft because the felt would outlive the pumpkin. Materials: pumpkin vessel, felt succulents, felt for succulent bottoms cut into circles, wire cut into 6″ strips with a coil at one end, mixed berries, fabric scissors, wire cutters, pliers, floral foam or similar I can’t get over the pumpkin shape! I found my container at Joann; I almost bought a whole fleet. The berries were from Joann, too, and I made the felt succulents using wool blend felt (cut a bunch of ‘petal’ shapes and glue them to each other one petal at a time until you get your preferred succulent size and look). As part of golden anniversary decor, my parents requested that I incorporate their party favors into the centerpiece arrangements. Challenge accepted! My parents have an awesome garden. Not only is it filled with a bounty of fruits and vegetables, they’ve got a pretty great succulent collection as well. They decided they wanted to give succulent planters away as their party favors. My Dad made a mix of soil, perlite, and rocks, and they planted a succulent snipping for each of their guests. They cared for the baby succulents for two months prior to the party so the plants could grow into their new pots. I ordered business cards from Moo and used them as favor tags. Like our desert plant love pun? “I will never desert you.” (Yea, you like it.) The tags shimmered with gold foil, as did the twine. There were eight tables to be decorated. My sister, niece, and I brainstormed for weeks and we finally decided on using round mirrors to bring all the centerpiece elements together. We stacked smaller mirrors and …
