I never told anyone but I made a list at the beginning of this year to manifest some creative goals. Here’s how I did!
Host a Craft Swap
Check! It had been a few years since my crafty BFF and I hosted a craft supply swap! We held our previous swaps at Makers Workspace back in 2017 and 2018; this year we partnered with Sticky Art Lab. We gathered a small group of creatives for an intimate morning of conversation, snacks, and swapping of course!
Guests had the option to set up a booth with their freebie items or simply come to “shop.” We had a leave no trace agreement with our swappers, too, so folks brought home any unclaimed items. We also set up a paper tube creature creation station for some social crafting.
Relaunch Creative Workshops
This one sort of happened. I hosted a fundraiser workshop for my kid’s preschool and folks signed up! To prepare for the relaunch I worked on an updated workshop guide with new photos and Crafterateur branding. Here are scenes from preschool night —
Since then I haven’t hosted any workshops (one planned event was cancelled because no one signed up – whoops!), but I’m super proud of the workshop guide; I’m considering making it available as a digital download in 2026.
Have a Craft Girl Summer
Success! This summer I wanted to take some creative workshops to have a craft girl summer, but I didn’t find any workshops that fit my interests, schedule, or budget. So instead, I ended up challenging myself to create every day even if it was just for five minutes.
Though I didn’t end up creating something everyday, I did create most days so I would call this a success. I ended up with a few one-of-kind macrame art pieces; I learned some new knots along the way, repurposed some older designs, and finally incorporated my handmade ceramic beads into my macrame!
Produce a Craft Show
Sticky Art Lab is the land of dreams because not only did I get to put on a craft swap in this space, but I got to be part of planning an art exhibition / craft show with the Sticky Art Lab crew! Armed with a Canva account, I created the flyer and event signage.
We had snacks, a raffle, two DIY stations, a cute photo spot, music, and all the laughter.
Even though I’ve been part of this community since 2011, I still hadn’t met all of the crew, and even if I had met them, I hadn’t seen what they create outside of Sticky Art Lab! I had so much fun meeting and reuniting with everyone in this space.
