bon marché.

Appreciation post! My friend and I joined a fancy yard sale, and it was so delightful! Stéphanie and Sarah are the duo behind California Copenhagen; they produce eco-conscious events like Bon Marché and activate spaces to be welcoming, creative, and kind to Mother Earth. At this event they had an indigo dye bath to bring new life to old garments, and collected used socks to recycle.

I’ve done a number of creative events and craft shows in my day and this was by far the most organized event I’ve done. Every email was informative and packed with all the FAQ. They consistently posted on social media and made it so easy to repost and share. They offered tent/umbrella rentals and partnered with the venue to provide chairs. As a maker and vendor, this is so helpful to not need to bring extra stuff.

My friend and I shared a booth; it felt like playing store (for grown ups! with real money!) Stéphanie and Sarah were so welcoming; they checked in on us throughout the event, and even did a post-event shout out. I feel like that’s our job as a vendor to thank them for their time and effort to get the events together. Plot twist, am I right?

Playing store never felt so organized! I got to to spend the afternoon with my friend eating yummy local snacks, sold some stuff and made some extra spending cash, and kept stuff out of the landfill. If you’re looking for a curated yard sale venue with some great finds and great people, this is the event for you!

Stay tuned for California Copenhagen’s upcoming events! They even have a kids market – so cool!
