thank you paintings.

Here’s a creative idea to add a little handmade to your generic ‘give-me-money’ fundraisers: paint your thank yous! This year our family is part of a cooperative preschool and we’ve committed to contribute to the school via weekly participation, a year-long family job, and school outreach and fundraising. For our first school fundraiser we created video messages and an 8×10 acrylic painting on canvas for our donors.

  • 👋🏽 Donate $5 – Receive a video message from the little
  • 🖼️ Donate $25 – Same as above, plus an 8×10 painting on canvas

I enjoyed this project together and it was particularly fun to see what the little decided to name each artwork. All you need for this project are canvases, acrylic paint, brushes, and a varnish; plus 6-8 days for drying.

I handed the little a big brush. We added one color at a time, and he directed where to drop the paint and how much to put on each canvas. When he was content with each, we let the paintings dry for a few days, then I sealed each with Liquitex satin varnish and dried for a few more days. Then, he named them all. Which one is your favorite?

The only sad part about this project was that I didn’t have him make an extra for our painting collection! We were so excited to gift these to our friends and family; perhaps we’ll need to do this again for our next ‘basic’ fundraiser.
