disco pumpkins.

These disco pumpkins are AwwSam inspired and so fun to make!

You will need:

  • Faux pumpkins: I found kraft pumpkins at Target. They are lightweight and easy to work with. You can also use foam or plastic pumpkins.
  • Self-adhesive disco glass: These are the same as linked in the AwwSam tutorial. I chose pink! They work really well on the kraft material.
  • Time!!!

The self-adhesive disco glass comes in strips of tiny squares. It takes a while but it’s worth the time to attach each one-by-one. My hack to save on time is to separate a strip of squares from the pack maybe 10 squares long, hold the strip in your hand, and ‘break off’ each square slightly as you adhere one at a time to the pumpkin. You’re working with a curved surface so following the natural curves of your pumpkin really adds depth. The ‘add one at a time’ technique allows you to turn squares slightly to follow the curves of the pumpkin.

I started from the top and works downward as I went around and around the pumpkin. I found this method easier than working around the pumpkin as you went from up to down repeatedly. You’ll also get the squares to stack more like bricks – not entirely ‘on top’ of each other.

I loved our disco pumpkin so much we kept it on display beyond Halloween. You can even use your disco pumpkin for solar eclipse viewing (Spot the tiny moons!). Let me know if you make one, too!
