filoli.

I recently turned 40 and to celebrate I took the month off from work to spend time with the fam and explore local places together. High on my list was a trip to Filoli.

There was so much to explore! I highly recommend downloading the Filoli app to assist with your wandering. Each gate/door/arch was an entrance to what felt like another world. There were ponds and other water features, purple lilacs adorned the grounds, …

The property was a place to stroll, think, and take in the beauty of nature.

I really wanted to see the cherry blossoms and these weeping cherry blossoms did not disappoint!

My favorite moments were sitting in the vegetable garden and having mocktails and popsicles, …

…looking for mushrooms in the forest (yes, the property is so grand they have a forest!), …

…and sitting here under the olive trees. It doesn’t look like much in the photo but it was so nice to sit, breathe, and look out while my toddler thoroughly enjoyed playing restaurant with the wood chips and twigs. #nowthatstoddlertainment

Filoli also has a nursery gift shop, a cafe, …

…this giant woven basket (LOL I love baskets), portals :), …

…lots of greenery, a pool, …

…and obviously so many blooms! It ended up being a full day’s trip because we stayed much longer than anticipated, but Spring was Springing and it was hard to leave.

There were so many adventures to be had on my break. I’m putting together a family-friendly Bay Area staycation idea post and Filoli is definitely on the list!

Have you indulged in a visit to Filoli? What was your most memorable moment?

One response to “filoli.”

  1. […] The fanciest garden I’ve been to. I love garden time, maybe because it’s a bit nostalgic of my parents’ garden. Filoli is an experience. Springtime is a lovely time to go, but there will always be something to enjoy throughout the year. Make use of their app to get around the grounds and to find out what’s in bloom or on display. If I had more of a green thumb and an abundant plant budget I would have for sure bought everything in their garden shop, too. Read more about my first visit here. […]
