sj made – again!

This year at the SJ Made Holiday Faire was my fourth time in attendance, and I realized I have been a part of the event since it’s inception. Very cool. I was assigned the same booth as last year – front and center! This time I brought lots of workshop samples including weavings and I co-hosted a coloring station with my booth neighbor / craft friend Rebecca of Oodlebadoodle. She also brought Awreatha for her final performance. Rebecca printed off some coloring pages from our SF Etsy team coloring book, including the one of my face. In this rendition, I am so extra. This year was the biggest year yet for the holiday show with almost (or maybe over!) 300 vendors. We took up nearly the entire hall space. There were also lots of activities and community groups offering interactive experiences. On Sunday, the local kitten adoption group brought kittens for 15-minute play sessions. I made sure to get a glimpse before the show started. Per usual, there is so much to see. The hall …

plants on plants on plants.

SJ Made invited me to set up shop at a plant themed event – PLANTS ON PLANTS ON PLANTS – at Backyard SJ. It was my first time to Backyard SJ. It’s literally situated on a parking lot, but it’s set up to host all kinds of events. In addition to maker pop-ups, they also host movie nights, wellness classes, and crafty workshops. It’s filled with lots of sitting/lounging areas, plants (of course!), and a cafe. I brought my Feed the Fish co collection of pennants, wall hangings, and flower crowns, and created a more plant-forward display for the event. Here’s the before and after. I brought samples from my craft workshops, too – felt succulent and flower gardens, wreaths, and memo boards. And I made some special pennants for the occasion. Please grow! The crowns were a hit! As were the surprise boxes. I met some lovely makers and shop owners, too. Natalie of Natalie’s Workshop hosts plant potting workshops and sells mini plants, and Sarah from Fractal Flora brought a plant and pot …

le petit elefant.

Yays! I visited my friend Genevieve – owner and designer extraordinaire at le petit elefant – at her first open studios event of the year. It was super major cute! Her space is set up like a shop and is also where she creates and does all her biznaz tasks. I love seeing Genevieve’s work at crafty events, but at her studio you get to see the entire collection – shelves and shelves of awesome! Greetings for every occasion, original art, prints, books, … And my fave section: the sticker table! Oh look, more stickers! And more cards and stamps! I grabbed a few items to add to my collection, and a few cards and gift items for loved ones. Can’t wait to gift all the cute! Until next visit! Have you visited any maker studios lately? Share below!

Last week I hung out with my crafty friend Angel of Todos Organics at the SJ Made Summer Series event at Whole Foods, San Jose. She had a booth and I was her assistant for the day. I met some super fun people and thought you should meet them, too! My friend set up her booth with her botanically infused coconut oils. Behold, her signature collection (Calm, Heal, Love, and Warm) and limited edition scents (Lift and Mind). I enjoyed being a helper coconut lady for the day. Mostly, I liked bragging about her products because they are super great. I swear by the Heal coconut oil on all bug bites and dry, itchy skin. Our neighbor was Laura Johnston of Le Animalé. She makes the cutest polymer clay creations, a line of totems she calls “fat-fats.” I spotted hummingbirds and I picked the fattest/cutest one. Throughout the day I spent a lot of time admiring all of her little creatures. Fun fact: Lauren is also a painter! Sarah White of Suite Sailing Soaps is …
