just a girl.

The real reason we were in Las Vegas: Gwen Stefani‘s Just A Girl residency at Planet Hollywood! We bought our tickets nearly a year ago! The entrance was almost like a Gwen history museum. Old costumes from past music videos and events were on display. We were in the VIP section (I had forgotten we purchased VIP tickets so I was super impressed by past me!) which means we were shown to our seats, and there was drink service. Per usual, Gwen was amazing and looked the same as last time (as the rest of us age), and her dancers were incredible. I want to learn all the choreography. The set was colorful, and there was confetti and lots of amazing costumes. My favorite was the one with a big blue furry pom on one of the dancer’s heads. She reminded me a Sky Dancer. There were a few nods to Vegas show girls, too – lots of feathers! The show was an hour and half (sadly, no encore). Gwen always brings the dance party …

shop feature: tender loving empire.

On my “I fell in love with Portland because of this” list is local handmade shop and record label Tender Loving Empire. The first time I visited TLE was in Fall 2011, before I kick-started my Feed the Fish co line. I must have been super inspired by all the handmade awesome in shop! On my second visit to Portland, I made sure to stop in again. The shop was just as exciting as the first visit. I even modeled for them. ūüėČ For this most recent visit, I made a TLE a flag! #fangirlallday And, I was so excited to see my crafty friend’s plush cuteness in store. You can spot Tally Sue’s¬†raindrops, Oregons, clouds, Voodoo doughnuts, and sunny side up eggs all over the shop. I hope I get to visit again sooner rather than later. I’m also itching to visit their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th locations throughout the city.¬†Any must-see stops on your Portland wishlist? Share below!

I’ve been a No Doubt / Gwen Stefani fan since sixth grade (OMG, that was 21 years ago!). I remember listening to Tragic Kingdom everyday! And then in high school, my sister took me to my first No Doubt concert. Back then, I colored my hair hot pink (spray in hair color for the win!) and was fine sitting in the nose bleeds. I had to ZOOM IN for these photos. Today, I sport my L.A.M.B. crossbody bag (a birthday gift from my college roomie – Hi Maivi!) and I refuse to sit more than fifteen rows away. #aintnobodygottimeforsquinting My friend Lennie (also self-proclaimed Gwennabe) and I snagged tickets for Gwen’s latest tour. We’ve gone to a few No Doubt and Gwen Stefani concerts over the years and each one has been an awesome dance party. This last show was particularly cute because there were a lot of moms with their now tween and teenaged daughters rocking out to Gwen’s music. GWEN!¬†I love Gwen’s sound and style, and how she’s consistently creating and being inspired …

the shop.

The Hubs and I were¬†browsing the coffee aisle at a market in San Mateo¬†and asked¬†a stranger a coffee question. Turns out he owned a coffee biznaz and he was popping up shop at San Mateo’s First Friday that night. Whaaat? We totally¬†walked on¬†over to check it out. The Shop host’s the event and features local makers & artists, food & drink, and music.¬†I felt all the local love; everyone knew someone and if you didn’t you sure felt like you were part of the in crowd. Leo, owner of Killer Coffee, was that stranger we met in the coffee aisle. Most days he pops up at Shane’s Barbershop, but tonight he was making coffee for the First Friday crowd. I tried his iced coffee which totally tasted like coffee ice cream – my favorite flavor! I don’t normally have coffee; I might now be addicted. We also picked up some of his coffee beans and can’t wait to brew them at home. We also met Laurel of Laurel Elaine Jewelry. She makes simple, beautiful pieces. …
